For Memorial weekend, we went on a little adventure! It was great to stretching Phoenix’s legs after a long winter and quite a repair/rebuild process. We are also planning a seriously big trip this upcoming July (2016) and this is a great test before hitting the road.
The great news is we had no mechanical issues [which tend to plague our first outings generally]. However, as it is so often the case, there is some bad news. Our batteries are in need of replacement and I can hear a nasty whine from the fuel pump, so thats on our to do list before July. We started the trip by driving to Ticonderoga, and then swinging through Port Henry and boondocked for the night just off the highway on a tucked away dirt road.
We then headed into the Keene/Lake Placid area and had a blast there in town and at this little lake on the side of the road which was great considering the hot weather. We also got to use some of our new camping and cooking gear we got for Christmas!
And we got to end the whole trip at a family BBQ where we got to spread the VW bus life love to our nephew
